We had been interested in purchasing a second home for weekend family vacations and stopped into a local realty office just to grab some catalogs, but not very serious about yet buying. Met Luisa who offered to show us the town and a couple of homes; ended up spending the entire day with her and learned so much about Cape Charles that we decided we were ready that day to buy. Now having had the house for a year, she has been a valuable resource for people we have needed to do work and places to go, and better yet one of our first friends in town.
BACKGROUND
Where did you grow up?
I was born in the Umbria region of Italy. I moved to Rome when I was about ten years old, which is where I completed my schooling in the international English school.
How long have you lived on the Eastern Shore?
I have lived on the Eastern Shore of Virginia since 1997, but visited regularly since 1989.
What languages do you speak?
I speak fluent English and Italian, and have a good understanding of French. My mother is from Great Britain, so I grew up bilingual.
Have you traveled a lot? Where are some of the places you have been?
My husband is a retired naval officer and we are fortunate to have been stationed in many beautiful places, including Sicily, Italy; Kauai, Hawaii; San Diego, California; and Pensacola, Florida.
REAL ESTATE
In what year did you begin your career in real estate?
I began working in real estate in 2004.
What originally got you interested in real estate?
My desire to familiarize myself with every nook and cranny of the Eastern Shore, but also my interest in meeting new people and hearing about their stories.
What do you enjoy most about being a real estate agent (or your job)?
The excitement and reaction of the people I work with when they find the property they have been dreaming of.
EASTERN SHORE CONNECTION
What is your favorite outdoor activity on the Eastern Shore?
I love to walk the beach and find treasures on the sea shore particularly if I am accompanied by my dog, Peppino.
Do you prefer the seaside or bayside of the Eastern Shore? Why?
Both the seaside and bayside have a fascination of their own and I truly admire both sides. I prefer the bayside because it is better for recreational activities, and of course, the sunset is a beautiful asset that everybody looks forward to witness when possible.
Beach or boat – if you had to pick one, which would it be and why?
I have always been enthusiastic about boats, but I do not own one. However, I do live on the beachfront so I would have to say the beach. I never tire of looking at the water at different times of the day.
PERSONAL
How long have you lived in your current home?
I have lived in my home for 19 years and it is the first home my husband and I have ever owned. The first 20 years of our marriage we spent moving around the country and world. The Eastern Shore is the only place that we now call home.
How do you relax after a hard day of work?
I love to cook and like to make recipes from scratch. I specialize in pizza and am lucky to have an outdoor burning pizza oven, which I love to entertain with. My husband and I also make our own wine and we have been doing it for several years.
Where do you usually go (or what do you do) when you have time off?
I have been blessed with three beautiful grandchildren, so needless to say I love to spend time with them every chance I get.
