Nolan Rayfield, Sales Agent/Director of Vacation Rentals

BACKGROUND

Where did you grow up?

I grew up mostly here in Cape Charles. Lived in Butlers Bluff until I was about 4 and then lived in the town of Cape Charles until I was 12.

Have you lived anywhere else other than the Eastern Shore? If so, where?

I lived in Mechanicsville for about 5 years, where I went to High School.

Have you traveled a lot? Where are some of the places you have been?

I haven’t traveled a huge amount, I did however go with my fiancée and her family to El Salvador in 2022 to meet her family that isn’t here in the US.  In college I was part of a Student Managed Investment Portfolio where we went to Chicago and New York to conferences to meet with investors, banks, and experts in the stock market.

REAL ESTATE

In what year did you begin your career in real estate?

I started my career in Real Estate in 2021. I came here to Chesapeake Properties the summer after my junior year in college to work with vacation rentals. After about a month I realized that real estate is where I belong. I got my real estate license during my senior year and came back to Cape Charles after I graduated, with a degree in Finance with a concentration in Insurance and Real Estate, to do real estate full time.

What originally got you interested in real estate?

My parents played a large role in how I got interested in real estate. They had many projects over the years that I enjoyed being a part of and my interest has only grown since then.

What do you enjoy most about working in real estate?

I like helping people find what they are looking for in a property as well as helping them find a good investment that fits their needs.

EASTERN SHORE CONNECTION

Why did you settle on the Eastern Shore?

To be close to my family and just because the area is so unique it isn’t like anywhere else. One of the few places you can watch the sun rise over the ocean and set over the bay with little to no land in sight.

Do you prefer the seaside or bayside of the Eastern Shore? Why?

Both are nice. I have never lived on the seaside so I may be a little biased. Both have amazing views and unique items that make each of them special unlike anywhere else.

Beach or boat – if you had to pick one, which would it be and why?

Definitely boat! It gives you the mobility to go wherever you want wether it be the barrier islands or if you just want to go fishing.

PERSONAL

How long have you lived in your current home?

I am currently having a home built south of Cape Charles that I am looking forward to moving into as soon as it is completed.

How do you relax after a hard day of work?

I like to spend time at home, watch the sunset, or going out to eat.

Where do you usually go (or what do you do) when you have time off?

Until my wedding in October, most of my time that I have off I try to go up to Northern Virginia to see my fiancée. I also enjoy kayaking, a great place to do that is at Kiptopeake State Park near the concrete ships. Great place to take in all of the natural beauty of the Eastern Shore
