May Events in Cape Charles: Your Guide to What’s Happening This Month

May is one of the most vibrant months on the Eastern Shore, and Cape Charles is showing up with a full calendar of live music, outdoor adventures, art, and community celebrations. Whether you’re a year-round resident or planning a spring visit, here’s everything happening in and around Cape Charles this May.

Piece of Eden — May 1 | Historic Palace Theatre

Kick off the month with something truly special. Piece of Eden is a sweeping historical musical drama that traces the history of the Eastern Shore from 1618 to 1776 through the legacy of Thom Savage. Originally produced by Arts Enter in 2007 and 2012, this beloved production returns in 2026 as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration. Written by Jean Collins, adapted for the stage by Sheila Mullins Cardano, and brought to life with original music by Gwen Skeens, the 2026 production features direction by Clelia C. Sheppard and music direction by Megan Cartwright.

Performances run April 24–26 and May 1–3. The May 1 performance begins at 8:00 PM at the Historic Palace Theatre.

Flower Moon Bike Ride — May 1 | Free

After the show — or on its own — cap your Thursday evening with the Flower Moon Bike Ride. Named for the full moon that signals the abundance of late spring blooms across North America, this casual community ride welcomes cyclists of all experience levels.

Meet at the LOVE Sign at 7:55 PM for an 8:15 PM departure. The ride winds through town and wraps up around 9:15 PM. It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s a perfect way to take in Cape Charles under the open sky.

Looking for a memorable Mother’s Day gift — or a treat for yourself? Moonrise Jewelry is hosting a Piercing and Permanent Jewelry Party on Saturday, May 9th from 10 AM to 5 PM. Professional piercer Bridgett Dearing returns for safe, gentle piercing services, with a beautiful selection of 14K gold piercing jewelry available in yellow and white gold through a partnership with Aurelie Gi.

Partner Yoga — May 9 | NFK Sun Studio, Norfolk

A little further afield but worth the trip: Partner Yoga at NFK Sun Studio in Norfolk runs 1:00–2:30 PM on May 9th. Bring your best friend, your partner, or your mom and spend 90 minutes building connection on and off the mat. The session guides pairs through movement and breathwork designed to ease physical, mental, and emotional tension — and have a lot of fun doing it.

Cost is $50 per pair, with 50% off for members. Pre-registration is required, and the 48-hour cancellation policy applies for a full refund.

ESVA Chamberfest — May 15–16 | Marina Road, Cape Charles

One of the Shore’s most anticipated events of the year, Chamberfest returns to Cape Charles for two nights of live music at the Canonie Atlantic Company on Marina Road.

Friday, May 15 kicks off at 4:30 PM with Irie Tree, the Eastern Shore’s premier reggae rock band. Saturday, May 16 starts at 8:00 PM with a lineup that includes Fil Rhythm, Alabama tribute band The Boys in the Band, and headliners Sammy Kershaw and Aaron Tippin — country legends performing their classic hits together as the Roots & Boots duo.

Vendors, food, and beverages will be on-site both nights. Tickets, tailgate packages, and sponsorship options are available at esvachamber.org.

Central Park Art Walk — May 16 | 10 AM–4 PM | Free

The day after Chamberfest, slow things down with a stroll through the Central Park Art Walk. Local artists and makers from across the region will be showcasing their work rain or shine. It’s a great way to discover new talent, pick up something one-of-a-kind, and spend a Saturday morning in good company.

This is a rain-or-shine event (an indoor backup location will be confirmed by the Thursday before). Food and beverages are available for purchase on-site.
